Stereoscopic 3D

Most of us humans see life in 3D. That’s because we have two separate, distinct eyes that naturally create two, slightly different perspectives. In the brain, this small variance in image perspectives is interpreted as depth and dimension. In the world of 3D filmmaking, we replicate this process by using two cameras. But human eyes, although amazing, do have a few setbacks when it comes to stereo viewing. 3D is therefore all about the delivery,  and having to wear a pair of silly-looking glasses hasn't proven popular. Its also worth noting that some 3D content can be appallingly bad and that doesn’t sit well with our brain.

There is now new glasses-free technology that is good enough to turn the marred perception of 3D on its head and the 3D pictures from Philips' latest glasses-free screen are startling to say the least.

3D acquisition still takes a lot more care to film than 2D but at the end of the day it can be a huge attractor, and of course one gets a 2D film as a bonus.

We have completed several 3D big screen productions recently, the Red Arrows for the London Science Museum ,the Saudi Hawks Aerobatic Experience, the Skoda VRS Launch at Goodwood and the Napier Railton experience for Brooklands Museum

Stereoscopic 3D is coming down in price as the tools for aquisition are becoming more readily available so your 3D epic need not be as expensive as you think it is. After all you get a 2D version as well for nothing, good 3D for exhibition use will be a major attractor used in conjunction with the latest Glasses free Tv's. When shooting on location we use on-site 3D monitoring prior to the main editing process to ensure that the very best 3D is being achieved.
